PLEASE HELP: How to watch an Italian DVD on USA laptop player without tweaking the region code?
I want to buy an Italian DVD from Italy. I'm in USA. Own 2008 HP laptop Pavillion. (DVD player cannot be hooked at the moment, my laptop is my TV). How can I find out whether the DVD is copy-protected or not? (American movie, dubbed in Italian; USA DVD does NOT have the Italian dubbing, released in USA around 2004). I want to play it on DVD unlimited times and I hear if you tweak the region coding, you can only switch 4 times max and it voids your warranty. If the DVD is region coded but not copy-protected would I be able to make a copy of it WITHOUT tweaking my region code and will I then be able to watch said copy in my laptop without tweaking the code? If not what do you recommend for me to be able to watch the Italian version on my laptop? (The USA DVD has no Italian dubbing, I checked!) Thanks!!!!!

Answer 1 :
Sometimes if you use a ripping program like dvd decrypter it circumvents the region coding, this one one of these few things that I don't know how it works but it does, perhaps becahse it doesn't use the directShow method.
Answer 2 :
You can use the trial period of AnyDVD (or any other s/w) to dubb the DVD into your hard drive. Then you can use Windows media player or any other player (like MyMovies) to watch it on your laptop. This way you will not have to mess around with the region code of your drive.
