How to find somebody who can deliver laptop from USA to Moscow?
Hi! How do you think I can find a person who will be willing to deliver a laptop from US to Moscow. Probably it can be someone who is going to visit Russia and want to get a reward for the service, which he can provide. I need a new MacBook Pro 13 to be delivered in Moscow somehow...

Why bother? There are so many methods of just mailing it. While Federal Express, United Parcel Service and DHL are best known, you will get a much better price if you use International Express mail or International Priority mail for the United States Postal Service. When you buy it online, simply specify your Moscow address, and USPS Express mail as the shipping method. Example: a 10 pound (4.5 kilogram) package would cost US$57.25 for Priority and US$67.25 for Express. Delivery time would be about 7 days for Express and 14 days for Priority. According to the USPS website, you can expect to pay about 30% of the declared value in customs tariff, but that will be the same no matter what - even if it is delivered by a person traveling.

You need to find a friend who will do that for you. I brought things like that on my past trips and they paid me a little commission. Obviously the shipping method is not feasible because you don't want to pay the 30% tax.

i bought a laptop from someone in canada. the battery charged fine in canada, but never charged in usa.?
any ideas? is there a difference in charger or battery for canada vs. usa? laptop doesn't see the battery. will work only on ac.

Having bought an incomptaible generic Notebook PC battery before, I suspect battery may even be dead or have not worked as it is my understanding that like a Dell AC charger has the capability to recharge a notebook battery whether in 110V or 220V enviroment as stated in the range if you were to look closely in the fineprint on any Notebook PC charger. Best of Luck in resolving matter and FYI genuine Notebook PC batteries can be very pricey...as I have bought 2 so far that worked fine after learning the hard way that buying generic batteries manufactured in China sold by Tiger Direct is taking chances... How can I buy Dell laptop in the USA during my holiday?
The problem is that when I customize my Dell notebook ( XPS M1210 ) on their web they have to ship to some address in the USA but I have no address there, only hotel. What should I do? Are there any laptop stores in Anchorage or Chicago where I can customize my notebook, order it and pick it up in the shop? Please give advise to Europan ( Czech ),

Just have them deliver to the hotel... As long as the hotel knows the package is coming, i dont think it would be a problem.

Go onto to dell.com. Click place order, and choose your country. Put in your name, credit cars numbers ext. Then, click pick-up, and put in the city where you will be. Then choose a dell shop, and you are all ready.

If your staying at the same hotel for some time you can actually ask the hotel manager if they can receive a mail for you. If they will do that, than order the laptop to the hotel address... don't forget to put your room number.

I custom build laptops and i would gladly ship it to you in your hotel. All you need to do is tell me what i need to configure it to, and then i will let you know what it will cost (so you can customize it on dell, and then when it shows the total specs, just copy and past that to me). And since i am a custom builder, i can custom it to what ever you want. Thanks and i am looking forward to hear from you soon!

How can i bring a laptop from USA to Europe?
I live in Portugal, and I want to purchase the new macbook pro. In USA it costs like 500 euros less. I thought i friend could buy it in USA and bring it to Portugal. Will they check if its his in the airport? Can he bring it in the same box he bought in or does he has to pretend its his?

He can carry it like any other hand luggage. US authorities do not care. Whether or not you have to report to customs on arrival in Portugal is another question.

Your friend can carry the laptop. He should take it as a carry on.They don't ask the ownership of the computer. They only care if someone is carrying something illegal or dangerous. Theres a chance they may check the box or ask him or open it to proove that its a computer. My sister has traveled the globe with her laptop. No one has ever questioned her about wether she owns it.

Technically he is supposed to declare to EU customs that he is bringing the laptop into the EU and leaving it there, so it would be subject to EU customs duty. But it's not likely that they'll check. If you think you are going to sneak it into the EU, I would not bring it in the same box he bought it in since most people who travel with their laptops don't bring that kind of stuff with them. It's worth noting that you will not be eligible for any warrantee/repair in Portuggal (if needed). You'd have to have the laptop brought back to the US for repairs under warrantee. And there may be some differences in what is pre-loaded onto the laptop from the US compared to what you get in Portugal.
