Should we pay customs for getting a laptop from usa(actually sealed)

Should we pay customs for getting a laptop from usa(actually sealed) to india?are u sure.?
my parents are getting a laptop from usa to india.should we pay any customs for that?
Air Travel - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
If the laptop is new then I think that customs might be interested. I have taken a laptop to India in my hand luggage several times without problem but its not new and is just part of my personal effects
Answer 2 :
on a new one, you may be required to pay.
Answer 3 :
If you purchase a new computer in the United States and intend on importing it into India, you will have to pay the applicable duty on the item. If you fail to declare it on arrival to customs & immigration, you could be subject to fines or possible jail time.

PLEASE HELP: How to watch an Italian DVD on USA laptop player without tweaking the region code?

PLEASE HELP: How to watch an Italian DVD on USA laptop player without tweaking the region code?
I want to buy an Italian DVD from Italy. I'm in USA. Own 2008 HP laptop Pavillion. (DVD player cannot be hooked at the moment, my laptop is my TV). How can I find out whether the DVD is copy-protected or not? (American movie, dubbed in Italian; USA DVD does NOT have the Italian dubbing, released in USA around 2004). I want to play it on DVD unlimited times and I hear if you tweak the region coding, you can only switch 4 times max and it voids your warranty. If the DVD is region coded but not copy-protected would I be able to make a copy of it WITHOUT tweaking my region code and will I then be able to watch said copy in my laptop without tweaking the code? If not what do you recommend for me to be able to watch the Italian version on my laptop? (The USA DVD has no Italian dubbing, I checked!) Thanks!!!!!
Other - Electronics - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Sometimes if you use a ripping program like dvd decrypter it circumvents the region coding, this one one of these few things that I don't know how it works but it does, perhaps becahse it doesn't use the directShow method.
Answer 2 :
You can use the trial period of AnyDVD (or any other s/w) to dubb the DVD into your hard drive. Then you can use Windows media player or any other player (like MyMovies) to watch it on your laptop. This way you will not have to mess around with the region code of your drive.

Just put a converter onto the cable to put it into the wall. Dont worry about voltages, the charger will take care of that.
Answer 2 :
Read the labelo on the charger. It will probably say something like 90v -240v AC, or 100v -240v. If it does it will work in the US, you will simply need a plug adaptor.
Answer 3 :
i don't know what your outlets look like in the uk but ours are two verticle lines that are parallel (side by side) like this: I I
Answer 4 :
you probably will need only a plug adapter for A/C connection.

Electricity in India is 240 Volts, your adapter is fine for India, all you need is a matching head (electrical plug) like this: http://wwwdelivery.superstock.com/WI/223/1598/PreviewComp/SuperStock_1598R-229435.jpg or http://product-image.tradeindia.com/00268497/b/0/2-Pin-Top-Electric-Plug.jpg

Hello all you need is plug end adaptor to match the US cord end to the type used in your area. your power block accepts the voltages: INPUT:100-240V ~2.0A 50-60HZ Mike

Seller in USA is sending laptop via USPS to India. I've already paid him online. Any other charges?
I bought a laptop online and they are going to send it via USPS to India. I have already paid shipping charges. What additional charges will I have to pay? And to whom? Will my laptop be held ransom at customs until I pay those charges? I have heard horror stories about customs in India and don't want to be a victim here. I already spent all my money on the laptop and don't have any extra to pay customs. Please help...

most likely you would need to pay Custom their fees.

Your laptop will be "held ransom" at customs, why would you think they would make a special exception for you? Not.

Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers

Answer 1 :
Both are the same, because parts for USA made are made in China. Most motherboards are made in a factory in China, hard drives in Singapore, cpu in Singapore and cases in China.
Answer 2 :
absolutely no difference. Their parts are still imported from other neighbouring countries. The CPU will most probably be made in Malaysia, the RAM is probably made from Japan/Korea and the motherboard is probably made by Compal from Taiwan. Wherever you buy these laptops from, and wherever they say it was assembled it, it doesn't really mean anything different. A laptop that was "Assembled in USA" is identical to one that was assembled in China. The parts still come from elsewhere. Just so you know, Compal Electronics (Taiwan) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compal_Electronics is Dell's main client in the production of laptops and notebooks, as are a lot of other companies like Acer, HP and Toshiba.

Ask DHL. They have experts that can help you with all the documentation that you'll need to get it to the US, and they will know which forms you have to fill out - plus fill them out for you if necessary.
Answer 2 :
Contact US Customs. While the carrier may be able to estimate the duty, the Customs Service has the final say.
Answer 3 :
If it is your laptop, you should not pay import taxes. Import taxes are only paid when there is a commercial transaction involved.

How can I watch in my laptop a DVD written in Region 1 (USA), when I am in Region 2 (Europe)

How can I watch in my laptop a DVD written in Region 1 (USA), when I am in Region 2 (Europe)?
I have received educational DVDs, which I need for my thesis, from the USA and the UK and I cannot play them in my laptop. I am told that my DVD player is not Region 1 compatible. Can I do anything? Maybe add some kind of software, or I don't know what ...

Ya, with a certain type of software you can. http://www.dvdexploder.com/compdvd.htm
Answer 2 :
Many better laptops will allow you to change the region setting, although generally only a few times. Your best bet is probably to get a player that plays all regions, or invest in a cheap US market (Region 1) DVD player. You should be able to purchase a new DVD player for this purpose for less than USD$50.

I recieved my laptop from the USA, but I live in the UK/SCotland, and I am not sure if I need to change the voltage from 110V To 220 or 240V, If yes How do I do it, I have a Toshiba laptop. thanks
Laptops & Notebooks - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
go to Toshiba representative or reseller from UK and tell them this problem. you need to change (or buy another) the charging transformer. the laptop should function anywhere.
Answer 2 :
Read Manual.
Answer 3 :
I finally agree with the Boogie Man, ha ha, that is what I would do, good luck.
Answer 4 :
No, you probably will not need to get a Voltage transformer Most laptop Adapters can take both 110V and 240V Look on the power adapter that came with it, it should say something like "Input Range 110 to 240V" If it does then it will work on UK power.
Answer 5 :
The laptop itself will run off something like 12V. What matters it the transformer that you connect to the laptop and the mains. Written on it should be the input voltage it takes (e.g. 110V-240V). If the country you are in uses that voltage, then you can just use it (with a socket adaptor to change the plug). Otherwise you need a new transformer.

If I buy a bluy ray dvd laptop in the USA and bring it back to Ireland will I by able to play Irish bluy ray?
if i can't play irish dvds is there a way round it? can i unlock it or anything? thanks in advance. points for best answer.

People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
ya, you would be able to play irish blue ray dvds, but you wouldn't be able to plug it in in ireland or you'll fry the laptop, and when i was refering to the laptop frying, what i was referring to is how you'd need the adapter or it'll fry
Answer 2 :
The Americas are in Blu Ray region 1, while Ireland is in region 2, so you will probably not be able to play region 2 discs on a region 1 device. Most DVD drives allow you to change the region code a set # of times, however I don't believe that BD players have this feature. Your best bet is to either buy a BD player in Ireland, or import your BD discs from the US (or somewhere else in region 1). You could also look into software solutions such as AnyDVD HD which will remove region codes, but that would involve additional cost. Not sure what robman is referring to, as his answer is totally bogus on both counts. US laptops will work just fine in Ireland, all you need is an adapter to make the power cord physically fit in the outlet. The power itself is fine.
Answer 3 :
dvd

How do I connect to the internet using my UK laptop in the USA when on holiday?

How do I connect to the internet using my UK laptop in the USA when on holiday? i.e. will i need a USA ISP?
I only intend to use the laptop in the hotels (which claim to provide Wif Fi)
Laptops & Notebooks - 6 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
You should have no problem connecting via WLAN or LAN to the internet. The only problems you may encounter are certian keyboard muck-ups (nothing to worry about), but other than that, you are good to go!
Answer 2 :
You will need to conenct your wireless up the same way you connnected your laptop up to your internet at home, if you are not sure ask the hotel. If they claim to have wi-fi then you should no problem, make sure however this is FREE wi-fi otherwise you could have a hefty bill at the end of your trip.
Answer 3 :
if the hotell offers Wifi then you can use connect to that via the wireless card, i have a UK laptop and live in teh US and it works fine. Also most hotels offer FREE wifi over here, unlike england where u pay through the nose for everything. And unlike the other guy said, the keyboard will be no problem, it will stay exactly as it is.
Answer 4 :
If your laptop has a wireless adapter, you'll be fine. Otherwise, bring an ethernet cable. You won't need an ISP, because the hotels provide their own internet. Also, make sure to bring an adapter for your power cable! I've travelled abroad, and it was a disappointing thing to forget!
Answer 5 :
Everything Will J said is correct. The only other problem I see you having is with outlets (the ones here in the U.S. are shaped differently) but you should be able to find a cable that will solve that problem.
Answer 6 :
just turn on ur wifi and log on simple--- am sure the front desk will be glad to help if u have a prob

Will a laptop bought in USA which is set for a specific voltage and current work in another country?
Different countries have different specification of Current and Voltage for their electric supply. So will an electronic equipment bought in one country work in another country with 'different' current. If not, is there any 'adapter' which can be used?
Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
In back of your computer you should have a selector switch for the different voltage settings. Reason being that some computers are sold in Europe which has a 240 versus our 120 volt rating. If you did switch to the 240, you would need to buy an adapter for your plug as all the different voltages have different plugs. Probably would cost $2-$5, depending on where you got it. You would also switch the tab in the back of the computer from 120 to the 240 volts.
Answer 2 :
Any travel section of any department store will sell travel voltage adapters. Or web search >foreign voltage converters +laptops

I am going to the US soon and rather than spend a load of money at home for a computer, I can get a cheaper one there. I know that power supplies are different for the USA and UK but if I brought the computer home and then bought a power cable back home will it work?
Laptops & Notebooks - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :

Yes it has no reason for it not to, I have imported a laptop and a zune myself from the us. You need to change you time settings, get an adapter or new charger, may have no warrenty. http://www.avforums.com/forums/laptops-netbooks/376762-buying-laptop-usa-use-uk.html read some of that
Answer 2 :
yes, and the power supplies automatically switch between 110 and 240volts so you just need a $1 adapter. Apple price fix worldwide though and unless you are particulary lucky with the exchange rate it makes no difference on price. I know this as an apple user who goes to the states a lot. I got mine cheap by buying one new from ebay (my macbook pro cost £1400 instead of £1800 and the applecare cost me £90 instead of £300) I think people take advantage of not only the exchange rates but also student discounts and the varying worldwide cost of applecare in order to provide the machines and warranties so cheap. EDIT: the warranties are applicable worldwide.
Answer 3 :
yes it should work
Answer 4 :
Yes, all you need to do is a get all in one adapter that will let you plug it into the UK.
Answer 5 :
yes it will

They sure will. No big deal though.

I have traveled outside the US and have brought my laptop with me a few times. Customs have never given me a problem or asked any questions. Just follow all rules and regulations and he should not have any concerns!
Answer 3 :
The computer itself is not a problem - lots of people travel with them all the time. Customs now has the right to search the contents of the laptop. They don't search everyone's but they can. If you don't cooperate, they can seize it. Since someone gave it to him, he should make sure he knows everything that is on the disk, and remove any files that he doesn't absolutely need to bring along. No one cares how many laptops you carry when leaving the US.
Answer 2 :
I cannot give you any "authorized" assurance, because no one cares because there is no regulation. As long as both are removed from your bag for screening, then you should be okay. One word of caution, computers must be removed or placed in special computer bags. Don't try to leave the computer in the original box or you will have trouble going through security..

Answer 2 :
The electric systems in some countries carry different voltages than in the USA, and so we need some kind of converters. Best to check on that before you try to plug it in and burn it out.
Answer 3 :
Will you be able to plug your power adapter in over there? I was under the impression that power outlets were different there...
Answer 4 :
just bring yourself a power adapter they use 220-240 there (2 prongs) you will have no problems do it all the time matter of fact leaving in the morning for Italy and will use my notebook i have used both my T Mobile account and cards
Answer 5 :
There is no reason to say no. I have an American laptop and it works perfectly also here in Italy. I had only to change the cord because the plug is different.

I will buy a laptop in USA but the recipient resides in Mexico, how to switch to Spanish all software?
My sister is not fuent in English; the prices of computers in USA area appealing to her than in Mexico. She wants to buy the item but does not know how to convert to spanish all the pre-installed software that came with the computer. Thanks
Software - 5 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
contact dell or whomeever the computer is purchased from if not go to like best buy, cosco or whereever they sell comp and i am sure they will be able to tell you
Answer 2 :
u need to ask them before u buy it to see if the thing can come with a language translator for all the programs. u might also need to buy spanish software in case it doesnt come with an option to convert it. if u can't do this, she might need to learn english. this might help her later, and it would be smart in case she needs it later on.
Answer 3 :
She needs to buy a Spanish version of the software. Also, it is illegal to export several of the programs installed on computers out of the country. When you bought the computer, you likely agreed to an end user agreement that stated that you agreed not to export the software.
Answer 4 :
I would think that these days you could buy a laptop in the USA with all Spanish already installed. Heck, when I go to the doctor it takes them an hour to find forms in English for me to read.
Answer 5 :
Depending on the software you usually have to install in the desired language. Everytime I install Windows I don't remember seeing a language selection screen. So you'd need to find a Spanish version of Windows. As for other programs, you'd need to check their website or try installing the software to see if you can select languages. I believe Nero has language packs you can download to adjust languages. A few other programs I've used has a language selection on install. I'd start with a formatted hard drive and install the programs one by one starting with Windows looking for the ones you can set the languages for. If it's a new laptop you can usually tell them you need it in English, French, Spanish or almost any other language. This might take an extra few days depending on if the language you need is commonly spoken in that area.

Is there any way to get a UK HP laptop shipped to the USA?

Is there any way to get a UK HP laptop shipped to the USA?
I'm going to start college in the UK this fall and want to get a UK laptop delivered here before I leave. I've looked at multiple laptop dealers' websites (UK ones) and the UK HP website but none deliver over here. I don't want to have to wait until the day before classes start to get a laptop.
Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Your best bet is to look for a UK HP retailer on e-bay as they will be able to sort out international shipping, it wont be cheap though, we pay a lot lot more for laptops over here. you would be best to take a US model and get it adapted for use in the UK, there's not a real lot of difference really, I have had three Laptops from the USA over the last 10 years and i've saved around £500 on the retail price all together, they all work fine, the only real issue is warranties etc.
Answer 2 :
Why dont you buy it here? Strange that they will not mail to the states though. Is there a difference?

USA laptop work in kuwait?

does a USA laptop work in kuwait?
im in the usa and i wanna buy a sony vaio laptop, and i am from kuwait, if u buy it from usa will it work in kuwait? thx
Laptops & Notebooks - 6 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
YES !
Answer 2 :
The laptop itself will, but be careful about the charger. Make sure the voltage ratings are the same, and if not, buy a transformer and surge protector to avoid frying it.
Answer 3 :
Of course it will.
Answer 4 :
Yes you will just need a power adapter for the outlets there. Just the little plugs, as they are different from the US (as I'm sure you have noticed). The computers power cord should automatically convert for your computer so the different voltage will not effect your computer. It is never a bad idea to use a power strip/surge protector just in case though. It is in fact never a bad idea when using any expensive electronic device.
Answer 5 :
give me a reason y not?
Answer 6 :
Yes. It will work just fine. My USA purchased Sony Vaio did very well for the 2 years I lived in Kuwait. Just keep in mind that if you buy it in the USA and need to have it serviced, you might have to ship it back to the USA for fixing rather than going through local Kuwaiti electronics dealers like Al Ghanim. Another thing to consider is that you will have to install a program to type in Arabic since a computer purchased in the USA will not have that capability.

Do I have to pay any tax when receiving a laptop (in Singapore) sent from USA via USPS?(send as a gift)?
In a situation, one person in USA send two laptops to two different friends in Singapore as gifts. Do the receivers have to pay any tax? Thank you.
Singapore - 2 Answers

Answer 1 :
Your friend has to declare a value on the laptop. This is important for claims in case of non-delivery or due to damage during transit. Based on the value, GST will be levied. There is no GST if the value is low..
Answer 2 :
why spend money on a laptop when you can get it for free? just go to this site and complete a few quick tasks and they'll send you a sony vaio laptop at no charge!

Can you suggest any other brand having international warranty valid in India.

Probably not. The reason these big companies sell them in different locations is because the warranty requirements and laws vary widely from country to country. I would imagine that warranty information is readily available on the HP website.
Answer 2 :
its fine but i wouldnt count on it as u mentioned India
Answer 3 :
all laptops come with an international warranty from best buy, just throw in 30 dollars.

Our oldest son lives and works in London UK and overseas postage is atrocious and very expensive. If I were in your shoes, I believe your best bet would be to buying from a USA major supplier...hopefully like Dell Outlet though I can foresee your problems bec some Sellers unless you bought on EBAY and then paid via PayPal might not accept foreign currency... Actually I own 3 Dell Notebook PCs and I was surprised that there is a EBAY Seller here in Northern VA around Washington DC that sells top rated Dells and many Brits and Europeans actually pay the inflated price plus hefty S&H. Another choice is maybe if your child has credit card is to use that credit card number <= assume you are paying or to ask the host family to assist you if it isn't too much trouble. Depending on where in USA your child is located, I may be even willing to help out and provide some assistance, and you could provide me more details via emails. Best of Luck and Cheers! David I'm Back and Happen to Think that: one large & reputable online store that I have used in the past that might solve everything regarding a USA buy and delivery, and accepting foreign currency is {www.newgg.com}

Get it from eBay United Kingdom (yeslaptops.com/ebay-unitedkingdom) and have it delivered to USA.

Hello! My brother wants to send me a notebook computer from the USA. But I said, "Wait! I think maybe I need to pay an import tax." Do you know how much I have to pay? The notebook is worth 468 Euros. I looked on the website, but I could not find the answer to my question. Thank you! Mit freundlichen Grussen,

Will the electric work, as they have a differnt system?
Answer 2 :
Hello There ! Most likely you will have to pay import taxes and / or Mehrwertsteuer. You can find further information here: http://www.zoll.de/faq/postverkehr/index.html The value exceeds the gift threshold. It might be declared as used, since your brother probably used it a couple of hours ;-) Good luck!
Answer 3 :
Dont risk your money and be careful of international warranties as they can leave you high and dry. I just got one from these guys cheaper than the US. www.babtec.com.au Good Luck!

Do I have have to have a voltage adapter as well as a plug adapter to use my laptop in the USA?

Do I have have to have a voltage adapter as well as a plug adapter to use my laptop in the USA?
I purchased the computer while on vacation in the UK and will be bringing it home to the US. I have a plug adapter, but it does not convert voltage. Do I need to buy the expensive world adapters that also convert voltage, or will just a plug adapter work fine?
Other - Electronics - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
most consumer electronics in this day and age already come with an adapter that works with both 120V and 220V. To make sure, you should just read the adapter and it will say something like "Input: 110-220V"
Answer 2 :
Look closely at the fine print on your laptop's power brick. It will almost certainly say something like "Input: 100-240V, 50-60 Hz" This means anything from 100 to 240 volts, and anything from 50 to 60 Hertz AC. Which means that yes, you can power it directly from North American wall sockets without a voltage adapter (i.e. a transformer). All you need is the plug adapter. It's a lot easier for laptop makers to build these universal power supplies than it is to build and stock different supplies for different countries. This way the only thing they have to change is the cordset. I and many other travelers do it the other way all the time. My US-bought laptop works fine with just plug adapters all over the world. btw, in case you were wondering, the "100 volts" as a possible input voltage is for Japan - normal wall socket current in Japan is just 100V.
Answer 3 :
Chances are you won't even need an adapter. The power adapter for the computer likely uses a standard IEC type power cable, which you can get in the USA when you get there, or if you are like me, have a box of them.

How much will UK Customs charge me on importing a laptop from the USA?

How much will UK Customs charge me on importing a laptop from the USA?
Hi I'm considering importing a laptop from the American computer store www.excaliberpc.com to my home in the UK. After currency conversion the laptop costs £627 (or there abouts) and shipping approximately £71. Basically can somebody who knows tell me how much I'll be charged by UK customs (if any) and how this will affect the delivery time (I intend on paying a fair amount extra for expedited international delivery. Thanks in advance for any help, I'm very grateful!
United Kingdom - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
It depends who the company ships with, they all have different charges. I often recieve car parts from america and find UPS or parcelforce are most likely to charge. You can contact the company and ask them to send it as a gift or mark down the value of the goods as often import tax is done as a percentage by customs whereas the shipping company usually charges a set fee. Bear in mind when doing this the item will not be insured for the correct value if lost in the post (but ive never had a problem with anything being lost and you still get a tracking number). Hope that helps
Answer 2 :
Forwarding company offers international shipping services from pretty much any online store. However, they also offer a free Landed cost estimate that includes ALL charges (shipping, duties, taxes, etc.) Just input the information you provided here: http://www.bongous.com/consolidation_calculator.php There is no obligation and it takes 2 seconds to get the estimate. I am in AU and I "trial run" all my purchases that way.
Answer 3 :
Tax will be around 20% but be aware that you will need a voltage adaptor for it to work in the UK, and if it comes with a warranty it will not usually be valid in the UK.

Should I buy a new laptop in the USA before I move, or in the UK after I arrive?
My current laptop feels like it weighs 100lbs and I am thinking about getting one of the newer, lightweights (even though mine works fine for what I need). I know there is a difference with the electric, but I used a converter before with no problems. I'm just wondering on which side of the pond I will find the best deal.
Laptops & Notebooks - 3 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Surely you will get the best deal in the USA side! I live in UK, but my both laptops an old one and new where brought from the USA ;) Don't think twice, just go for one of the lightweights (Mac Air is really cool) and be happy!
Answer 2 :
Definitely USA I agree. Even in Sweden where I live a Mac for instance is double the usd price and the UK is allot more expensive then Sweden. I'm gonna buy a new laptop when I go to Miami next month for sure. Btw thanx for your answer.
Answer 3 :
If you buy in the UK then you'll be able to get warranty repair in the UK while if you buy in the US you'll be able to get warranty repair in the US. Whether you'll be able to get a warranty repair outside the country you buy it in will depend on whether you are a citizen of that country. If you're a US citizen then you can buy a laptop in the US and if it breaks you can get it fixed anywhere in the world under warranty while a UK citizen will only be able to get a laptop bought in the US fixed under warranty in the US (i.e. paying for out of warranty repairs or shipping it to the US and back). Laptop reliability does seem to have improved although there I haven't seen any decent statistics on it but if a laptop does break it'll be expensive to fix out of warranty.

will my laptop from australia charge properly in the usa?
i was just wondering if my laptop from australia will charge properly in the usa? do i just need a converter so the plug will fit in american sockets or do i need something else? does it matter about the wattage difference? will it still charge properly?
Laptops & Notebooks - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
You just need a adapter plug
Answer 2 :
It should work fine with just a plug converter (or new power cable, or even just taking a pair of pliers to the plug (actually don't do that one)) as pretty much all laptop adapters are designed to be able to work anywhere on the planet (so they are designed to be able to handle both voltages and both frequencies used for domestic mains power). Just check the label stuck on the adapter to make sure it does say that 110 V @ 60 Hz will work (I'd be very surprised if it can't handle 110 V and 60 Hz). EDIT: The laptop adapter will only draw as much power as it needs which is far less than what pretty much any outlet can supply and as long as the adapter is a universal adapter it'll charge fine.

More info is needed. You say it recognizes the wireless signal from the router. You then have have to open up your wireless software and choose to connect to the signal. Can't help you any further for lack of information.
Answer 2 :
You need a ISP in order to hit the internet up, when you get one you like, I suggest cable, then ask them to set things up for you should work.
